PF SHOCKED WITH FIC
The Patriotic Front is shocked that the latest 2021 Financial Intelligence Center Report has focused its findings on the former ruling party to the exclusion of many other political parties that participated in the August 12th, 2021 general elections.
PF Whip in Parliament Stephen Kampyongo who is also Shiwang’andu PF Member of Parliament has wondered why the findings of the report only point to the PF when there are many other political parties that participated in the elections including the current ruling party.
Speaking at a media briefing, Mr. Kampyongo said the report should have indicated how all political parties funded their campaigns especially since there is currently no law in Zambia that compels political parties to disclose their source of income.
The 7th FIC Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Trends report published on 23rd June 2022 indicated that the Center recorded a 13 percent increase in the value of disseminated intelligence reports from K3.14 billion in 2020 to K3.56 Billion in 2021.
Speaking at the same briefing, PF Lukashya Member of Parliament George Chisanga who is also party Chairperson of Legal Affairs demanded that the fight against corruption should be objective and must be done in adherence to the rule of law.
Mr. Chisanga regretted that the fight against corruption currently has been reduced to a chase against the PF which is undermining it.
