Police arrest “Nana Babe” for telling truck drivers, “they don’t bath”

POLICE in Ndola have arrested 24-year-old Natasha Nambeya, popularly known as “Nana Babe,” over a TikTok video in which she allegedly claimed that truck drivers steal fuel and do not maintain proper personal hygiene.

The arrest follows a complaint lodged by the Truck Drivers Association of Zambia over the content posted on TikTok.

According to Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Rae Hamoonga, the matter was reported at Masala Police Station on September 16, 2026, around 16:30 hours by 34-year-old Prince Kasongo of Kenani Villa, Kaloko Compound, Ndola, on behalf of the Truck Drivers Association of Zambia.

Kasongo, a trustee of the association, told police that he came across the TikTok post on September 15, 2026, while browsing social media.

Police say the content creator, identified as “Nana Babe”, made remarks directed at truck drivers, including allegations that they steal fuel, receive low salaries and do not maintain proper personal hygiene.

Kasongo further alleged that the remarks caused emotional distress among members of the truck-driving community.

Following the report, police launched investigations and identified the content creator as Nambeya, aged 24, of Mushili Bonano in Ndola.

She was subsequently apprehended and arrested in connection with a case of Harassment Utilising Means of Electronic Communication, contrary to the law.

Police have since opened a docket, while investigations into the matter are ongoing.

Police have reminded members of the public, including social media users and content creators, to exercise responsibility when posting or sharing content online and to avoid communications that may constitute offences under the law.

Police say further details will be provided as investigations progress.
