Lusaka – 6th February, 2022.

Police in Lusaka have arrested and detained former Republican Edgar Chagwa Lungu’s Aide De Camp, a Mr. Chanda on Friday 4th February 2022.

Police are holding on to Mr. Chanda at an undisclosed police station but within Lusaka for unknown interogations.

Mr. Chanda served President Lungu as Presidential Aide De Camp for 7 years at State House.

In December 2021, former President Lungu broke the silence and spoke out urging Republican President Hakainde Hichilema and his government to go and arrest him as it was him that they were looking for instead of maliciously harassing, arresting and detaining several people that worked closely with him when he served as Republican President.

By midday Sunday 6th February 2022, the whereabouts of Mr. Chanda was still unknown, a situation that has left former President Lungu without a personal bodyguard. A former president by law is entitled to an official bodyguard paid for by the government, among other benefits.
