By Prudence Siabana

Police in Lusaka have recovered over 300 tonnes of copper ore and cobalt concentrate at a named warehouse in Makeni area.

Speaking after touring the warehouse, Police Deputy Spokesperson Danny Mwale told Journalists that the copper ore and cobalt concentrates are believed to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained on the Copperbelt.

Mr Mwale says police recovered the items after a tip off from the public and says it is yet to ascertain the value of the items.

He explains that the copper ores and cobalt concentrates were disguised and packed in bags written flammable solids when in the actual sense they are not, which made the law enforcers at check points clear the stolen items as flammable when in the actual sense it was not.

Mr Mwale says no arrests have been made so far and the contraband is since under police custody as police continues with investigations.
