POLICE OFFICERS ACCUSED OF LEAKING INFORMATION TO JAY JAY BANDA IN TROUBLE.
Some senior police officers are worried following the reported capture of fugitive former Petauke Central Member of Parliament Emmanuel Jay Jay Banda, amid allegations that they had been leaking information to him.
According to sources, some police officers, including individuals who were retired in the national interest, had been providing information to Mr Banda.
Police sources claim that on at least two occasions, officers came close to apprehending Mr Banda, but he received tip offs and disappeared before he could be captured..
The latest developments have reportedly raised concerns over possible information leaks within the police service.
A source within the police service told Zambian Watch that a joint task force apprehended Mr Banda, catching him by surprise.
“He has been captured, and he is very scared. A joint task force captured him. He was caught by surprise. What is shocking is that among the items recovered, there is evidence pointing to some senior police officers who were tipping him off. Heads will roll,” the source said.
Mr Banda had previously been reported to have made remarks critical of President Hakainde Hichilema and issued threats against his life.
