President Hakainde Hichilema Must Step In To Resolve the Crisis in Hospitals

By Amb. Emmanuel Mwamba

Resident Doctors Association of Zambia (RDAZ) President, Dr. Brian Sampa says Zambia’s health care system is at the verge of collapse.

Public hospitals have no drugs, laboratory re-agents, medical supplies such as gloves and canulars and other medical equipment.

More critical is the absence of essential drugs such as anti-malaria and anti-biotics that treat common diseases and are sent in a monthly drug kit.

Dr. Sampa says there has been no supplies for the last six months.

Ministry of Health disbanded the procurement unit at the Ministry and for various factors has not bought any medicines and medical supplies.

How do hospitals and Clinics treat our people? How do the health workers deal with this? Is the solution that of giving prescriptions for our people to buy at private pharmacies? Isn’t enough that we an already suffering people?

Awe bane!

His Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema must step in and resolve this health crisis.
