President Hichilema notes that the two national documents are important weapons that citizens can use to usher leaders who can develop the country.

ZANIS reports that the Head of State was speaking today when he addressed a rally at Nakambala Grounds in Mazabuka District in Southern Province.

President Hichilema however encouraged citizens to prepare to vote wisely in 2026 and choose leaders that are committed to developing the country.

President Hichilema said the government is committed to ensuring that development reaches all parts of the country as evident from the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) which has been increased from 1.6 million Kwacha to 36.1 million Kwacha in the 2025 budget.

At the same event, over 200 members of the Patriotic Front (PF) defected to the ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) led by the former Mazabuka District Vice Chairperson Mabvuto Matolwa.

Mr Mutolwa said him and other defectors have moved to the UPND because of the good leadership that President Hichilema has exhibited by uniting Zambians.

Meanwhile, in receiving the defectors President Hichilema urged members of the UPND to embrace new members that are joining the party.

Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Robert Chabinga who also addressed the gathering commended President Hichilema for uniting the country through equal distribution of the country’s national cake.

He described the economy to have been in a mortuary when President Hichilema took office but thanks to his good leadership.

Mansa Central Member of Parliament Chitalu Chilufya also commended President Hichilema for his efforts to unite the country.

He said his force for unity is what has moved him to join the Presidential entourage to Mazabuka today.

The President was in Mazabuka for a one day working visit to, among other activities, grace the golden jubilee of the Zambia Sugar.
