PRESIDENT HICHILEMA LEADS FAMILY MEMBERS, OTHER MOURNERS IN LAYING WREATHS AT DR MWANWASA’S GRAVE

Republican President and Commamder-in- Chief of the Defence Force, Dr Hakainde Hichilema today joined the family of late President Levy Patrick Mwanawasa and other Zambians in the wreath laying ceremony during his memorial at Embassy Park in Lusaka.
The President who arrived at the presidential burial Site at about 10:30 hours was received by Lusaka province Minister, Honourable Sheal Mulyata and her counterpart from Ministry of Youth, Sport and Art, Elvis Nkandu, senior government and military officials.
Late President Mwanawasa’s mausoleum was decorated with some of his garments such as his accident shirt, Zambia Army Military, University of Zambia gown and lawyers’ attire.
After the ceremony the President proceeded to the Cathedral of the Holy Cross for funeral procession of late Dr Maureen Mwanawasa’s funeral.
Dr Mwanawasa was Zambia’s third President and Commander-in- Chief of the Defence Force, who served the country from 2001 to 2008
