PRIMITIVE, SHAMEFUL TO STOP POLITICAL PARTIES HOLDING RALLIES – APC

By Fox Reporter
IT’S primitive, redundant and shameful for the ruling UPND government to stop opposition political parties from holding public rallies, All Peoples Congress (APC) leader Nasson Msoni has said.

Msoni has further said the conduct by the UPND to use police to inflict pain on the country’s democracy has rendered President Hakainde Hichilema and Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security, Jack Mwiimbu into grave diggers of democracy.

“HH and Jack Mwimbu have rendered themselves into grave diggers of democracy. It is playing dirty to use the veil of the police to prevent political activities being organised by the opposition political parties,” he said.

“It is primitive and redundant and shameful to stop opposition political parties from holding rallies or indeed meetings.Needless to say that Zambia is a democracy and in a democracy political parties are free to carry out political activities of their choice,” Msoni noted.

Msoni says it is shocking that those that shouted the loudest when similar activities where done to them, today they are proud behaving in such an outrageous manner.

“It is inconceivable that those who spoke the loudest against the undemocratic tendencies of the previous regime should instead turnout to be the worst perpetrators of stifling democratic practices. In a nutshell this behaviour is to be expected from those who have lost the argument for remaining in government. In essence it is a self defeating ruse to resort to using undemocratic means of preventing other stakeholders from holding political rallies,” Msoni said.

Police have stopped Socialist Party from holding a public rally in Kitwe at Changanamai grounds this Saturday on pretext that they don’t have man power.

Last month Police blocked PF from holding political rallies in Matero Constituency and sent over 15 militarised vehicles with over a 100 police officers in riot gear.
