JUST IN: Vladimir Putin is reportedly plotting a stunning power grab with Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping — a summit to decide Ukraine’s future WITHOUT Ukraine even at the table.
According to explosive new reporting from The Wall Street Journal, Putin proposed that the three leaders meet next month in China to negotiate an end to Russia’s war on Ukraine on terms favorable to Moscow.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wouldn’t even be invited.
And the timing is no coincidence.
Trump just struck a deal to purchase Russian diesel fuel, halted the implementation of major sanctions against Moscow, and is now publicly attacking Zelensky while accusing Ukraine of prolonging the war.
Putin, meanwhile, reportedly envisions a modern-day Yalta summit, where powerful nations carve up spheres of influence. Marco Rubio has previously spoken about spheres of influence, with a vision of the U.S. controlling the western hemisphere, Russia controlling Europe, and China controlling the east.
The country that invaded Ukraine wants to sit down with Trump and Xi to decide the victim’s fate — while excluding the victim — because Trump has clearly picked his side in the war in recent weeks.
Trump has not agreed to the summit, but a senior U.S. official says he could be receptive.
