President Hakainde Hichilema says fourth President of the Republic of Zambia, the late Rupiah Bwezani Banda brought political emancipation, a diminishing generation of patriots that stood against the wickedness and injustices associated with racism and all kind of discrimination

Speaking this morning when he attended the First Memorial Service of the late President, President Hichilema said that President Banda belonged to a generation of leaders that brought the Zambian people political emancipation and stood against the wickedness and injustices.

The Head of State said President Banda’s belief in democracy and the rule of law was unequivocal and firm as reaffirmed in his inaugural lecture he gave at the African Presidential Centre at Boston University.

President Hichilema said that the continent and indeed the world has so much to learn from the legacy of President Banda.

The President described the late President as a father of all Zambians through his his motto of “A President For All Zambians” appropriately referred to his all encompassing character.

Today marks exactly one year since the death of the country ‘s fourth President.
