President Hakainde Hichilema says fourth president Rupiah Banda will be remembered as a man who brought unite in a country where some people try to drive more issues of division “yet there are a lot of things that unite us.”

Speaking in Lusaka during the Church Service for the fourth president at Cathedral of the Holy Cross, President Hichilema stressed the need for things that prompt unite amongst citizens to override things that bring about division.

The President said the late president looked at people from a positive side.

He also said that president Banda had good sense of humor.

“He had a greater sense of humor. One day I went to visit him and we were chatting and someone hooted at the gate, then he said let me check who is at the gate. He stands by the pool side, far from the gate and he shouts “nibani abo.” So were I was seated I was smiling I was like wow but there is a guard there. And he always wanted to know who is around,” he said.

President Banda will be buried today at the Presidential Burial Site.

He died on the 11th this month after battling with colon cancer.
