RECOVERED LOOT HITS K1 BILLION
GOVERNMENT’S effort to recover stolen assets and money has yielded over US$38 million, and more than £33,000 (about US$43,000) in proceeds of crime has been forfeited to the State between 2020 and 2024.
Apart from the money, which is in different currencies, the State also managed to have various properties, among them over 100 cars, a lodge, 62 houses and 3,618 bicycles surrendered.
A summary of money deemed to be proceeds of crime, which was forfeited in the period under review, includes U$S438,266,186 (about K1 billion), £33,980.68 (about US$43,000), and RMB3,875 (about US$534).
Others include 600 Cambodian reil, 150 rupee, a combined 110 Australian and Canadian dollars, while forfeited local currency is K5.9 million.
The rest of the forfeited properties are six farms and three pieces of land and four chicken runs.
Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Gilbert Phiri is impressed with the recoveries recorded in the recent past, the highest in the country’s history.
“The law enforcement agencies like Drug Enforcement Commission, working with the National Prosecution Authority (NPA), have done a sterling job in recovering assets reasonably suspected to be proceeds of crime.

Hoping people can appreciate why the debt was so huge. The K1billion is what has been recovered so far. What has not been recovered is even more. Suffice to say that far more money will never be recovered.
Then someone says alebwelelapo???
Job well done. Keep digging this is just a fraction of it and someone says (we also want to eat) look how much they ate what is being recovered is just the vomit
.
Fight on, Mr DPP. This is just a tip of the corruption iceberg.
Bonanza will also make his contribution soon, adada will also contribute more than half of this or double it, then other small criminals will also add their weight.
DPP, and the team, well done. Make sure adada becomes the ice on top of cake, don’t rush to put ice okay!
