RANDY FINE DROPS THE HAMMER: MOTION TO EXPEL ILHAN OMAR COMING IF CITIZENSHIP FRAUD CONFIRMED

Florida Republican Rep. Randy Fine just put Congress on notice. Speaking at a packed rally, the House Freedom Caucus member delivered a clear promise: if the evidence shows Ilhan Omar is not a citizen of the United States, he will file a formal motion to expel her from the Congress of the United States.

The statement landed as a federal criminal investigation into Omar’s immigration history intensifies. Homeland Security Investigations agents searched her Washington, D.C. home on October 12, seizing phones, notebooks, and other items. Grand jury subpoenas have gone out to family members. Court filings have already identified the congresswoman under the name Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, listing Ilhan Abdullahi Omar as an alias. That is not a minor clerical detail.

Fine has been blunt about what comes next. “The evidence seems pretty overwhelming that she is not an American citizen for multiple reasons,” he said in a recent interview. “If she’s not an American, deporting her back to Somalia.” He has also made clear that if removal does not happen automatically, “I will introduce that expulsion resolution.” And he is not stopping there: any Democrat who votes to keep a non-citizen seated should face expulsion themselves.

This is not a new story. Allegations that Omar married a man widely believed to be her brother in 2009 to facilitate immigration benefits have circulated for years. Obama-era FBI and DHS investigators reportedly found evidence consistent with a sham marriage, though the case stalled over the statute of limitations. Recent reporting indicates the current probe is examining those same questions along with possible false statements on naturalization paperwork filed by Omar or her father. Omar has denied every allegation and called the investigation politically motivated.

The Constitution is not complicated. Only citizens can serve in Congress. Fine is simply saying the House will enforce that rule if the Justice Department produces the proof.

For years, the political class treated the questions surrounding Omar’s status as off-limits. That era appears to be ending. If the evidence holds, the motion is coming, and the only remaining question is whether enough members of Congress will have the spine to vote for it.- DTP
