REVENUE COLLECTION AT INTERCITY BUS TERMINUS INCREASE BY MORE THAN 100 PERCENT – MWALITETA
United Party for National Development (UPND) Lusaka Province Chairman Obvious Mwaliteta has disclosed that Lusaka City Council levy collection at Intercity Bus Terminus has increased from K1 million to more than K2 million per month after President Hichilema banned cadres in markets and bus stations.
Mr. Mwaliteta revealed this after paying a courtesy call on the Intercity Market Manager Mrs Katuta.
Mr Mwaliteta who was accompanied by National Youth Chairperson Gilbert Liswaniso thanked President Hakainde Hichilema for taking a bold decision to ban cadres because Government was losing a lot of revenue.
He said the party in Lusaka is grateful to President Hichilema for bringing sanity in markets and bus stations unlike the way it was in the past ten years.
“I was very saddened to learn that throughout the tenure of PF, statutory requirements for workers like NAPSA, PAYE and NHIMA were not being remitted. A contractual worker gratuity for workers amounting to K3 million was not paid, an electricity bill of K640, 427.88 and water bill of K123, 914.70 were not paid, so imagine if we had left PF for another 5yrs?” he bemoaned.
Mr. Mwalitate said the situation is very calm at Intercity and the people are very happy that there is no more harassment from political party cadres.
And the UPND Provincial chairman said due to increased revenue collection, the Management at the bus terminus is now working on building more toilets and improving the old ones.
“This is exactly what the Zambian people voted for and we are happy with what we have seen as a party. We are also challenging the management to be more innovative so as to increase revenue collection,” Mr Mwaliteta added.
