RUNAWAY BUS DRIVER INJURES POLICE OFFICER

A Lusaka police officer has been injured by an unknown driver who was running away from the police yesterday along Freedom Way.
Police spokesperson, Rae Hamoonga said the diver forcibly drove off to avoid having his vehicle impounded and in the process the officer fell on the ground and sustained serious injuries.
Mr. Hamoonga said also involved was a pedestrian Constable Chilowa Stanely aged 30 of plot number 81 Lilayi, who sustained a fractured left arm, bruises on the left leg and was rushed to University Teaching Hospital for treatment.
“Police recorded a Serious Injury Road Traffic Accident involving a Police Officer which occurred today June 16, 2022 at 07:50 hours along Freedom way opposite Times of Zambia. Involved was a Toyota Hiace minibus registration number BAB 3533 which was being driven by unknown driver who sped off after the accident,” he said.
Mr. Hamoonga said investigations into the matter to locate the driver have been instituted.
