SAMUKONGA RENEWS FOCUS ON WINNING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

Commonwealth 400meters men’s Champion Muzala Samukonga has set his eyes at winning the world championships be held in August from 19th to 27th 2023 in Hungary, Budapest.

Samukonga who is currently preparing for his first race at the all Comers Meet National Competition says his focus this season is to break the World record.

He says he will use the All Comers meet competition slated for Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, to reduce his new personal best time in readiness for the World championships.

Samukonga’s personal best time and national record is 44.66 seconds while the 400meters men’s world record is at 43.03 seconds and is held by Wayde Van Niekerk of South Africa.

Meanwhile, Twenty Four times All comers 100m winner Sydney Siame has targeted to win the 25th title at the first All Comers Meet Competition.

Zambia Athletics will on 28th and 29th January hold the first 2023 All Competition Meet national competition in Ndola at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

The All-African Games 200 meters champion says his aim is to kick start the season on a good note by winning the first competition.

Siame who has the personal best times of of 10.06 and 20.16 seconds in 100meters and 200meters respectively, admitted that the competition will not be easy as there are a number of younger athletes who have good times.
