SHE IS LIBERIA’S FORMER FINANCE MINISTER… WE RELEGATE OUR FORMER LEADERS TO SHUTTLING BETWEEN COURTS AND JAIL CELLS says Hon Brian Mushimba

This is IMF Deputy Managing Director, Antoinette Sayeh. She came to engage our government on the ongoing discussions around an IMF package.
My focus today is her previous role before she went to the IMF. She is a former Finance Minister in Liberia.
I have tragically noticed that whereas our friends, especially in West Africa, prop their nationals up and former leaders such as former ministers with opportunities to serve at such institutions like the IMF, World Bank, the UN, we relegate our former leaders to shuttling between courts and jail cells all the time.
This does not put us in a good light on the international stage.
We must find a way to remove the pettiness, vengeance and PHD syndrome out of our politics and society.
We must put context to our internal politics and not allow them to divide us once election results are announced. We must unite and have a purpose as a country instead of harboring division.
I wish this was Hon. Magande who had traveled from Washington DC, representing the IMF, to come and engage the Zambian government on this package.
We need to get to that space and get there fast please. Not everyone who serves in government must be demonized.
Enjoy your weekend 🤗!
