Sinkamba, Maiko differ over dagga
Peter Sinkamba and Maiko Zulu, both activists for the legalisation of marijuana, have offered different takes on President Hakainde Hichilema’s announcement that his administration is treading carefully regarding its production and export.
While Mr Zulu favours the methodical approach adopted by the new dawn administration, Mr Sinkamba wants the production to start now as there is nothing to wait for anymore.
Following a 2019 Cabinet decision to permit the production and export of cannabis for medicinal and export purposes, two laws – the Cannabis Act 2021 and Industrial Hemp Act 2021 – were enacted to pave way for reform, but President Hichilema said his administration is treading carefully because if not handled properly, the move could backfire –Zambia Daily Mail
