SIX YEAR OLD BOY DROWNS WHILE TRYING TO RETRIEVE A TOY FROM SOAK AWAY
THE life of a six year-old boy in Mansa has been lost after he tried slipped and fell in a rain filled soak-away in attempt to to retrieve a toy he was playing with together with his eight year old brother.
According to Police investigations, the two brothers of Katumbi village were playing with a certain object behind their neighbors’s house before it fell into a soakaway which was still under construction.
The youngest of the brothers went on a rescue mission to retrieve the toy, however he fell into the three metres deep soak-away.
By the time some villagers came to the scene , they found out that it was to late to save the child as they retrieved him out of the soak-away.
Luapula Province Police Commanding Officer Gloria Mulele confirmed the incident to ZANIS.
Melele disclosed that the police conducted a physical inspection of the deceased’s body and no visible injuries were observed.
ZANIS reports, Malele said despite the deceased’s family not suspecting any foul play, the Police have opened an inquiry into the matter.
