SP WILL ENSURE EVERY ZAMBIAN HAS AT LEAST THE BASIC NEEDS TO LIVE A GOOD LIFE
…as there is an urgent need to narrow the gab between the rich and the poor – Fr Bwalya
Lusaka…. Friday, July 15, 2022 (Smart Eagles)
It is against God’s will that a few people should have everything that they have – Imbwa shabo shilelya polony na T-Bone while the majority of the people are wallowing in poverty, former Zambia’s High Commissioner to Australia has said.
Fr Frank Bwalya, the Socialist Party (SP) Member of the Mobilization Committee explained that socialism is about equal distribution of wealth.
Fr Bwalya said this when he featured on Phoenix FM Zambia’s “Let the People Talk” program today.
In demonstrating what really socialism means, the SP Member of the National Council gave an example of what happens at household level as the foundation of the ideology.
“It is against God’s will that a few people should have everything that they have. Imbwa shabo shilelya polony, T-bone, kwaisa nama biscuits, nga baya ku holiday, basha mu hotel….and then the majority of the people are wallowing in poverty. Socialism is against that. So tell me, who among us the way we were brought up in our families did not encounter socialism in that sense,” he asked.
“These are the foundations of socialism as far as I am concerned. Wafuma ku sukulu waisa, wasanga balateka ubwali so that you come and eat with your siblings but you are the first one to come, our parents would say wait for your siblings. Why were our parents saying that? Because they knew that in each one of us, there is this selfishness and sometimes lack of consideration.”
Fr Bwalya said the opposition SP wants to ensure that there is control so that every Zambian has at least the basic needs to live a good life.
He also explained that the household example he gave does not make the distribution of food equitable.
“There are two of your siblings absent and you are the first one to come home then you cut the nshima meant for three people into half. That does not make it equitable. There are five pieces of meat, you get four and leave one for your two siblings saying they will use soup,” he said.
Meanwhile, Fr Bwalya said Dr Fred M’membe, the SP president is a man who loves the people.
He said a party that is in a hurry to form government so that they have access to national resources and enrich themselves would not structure their party in the manner SP is doing.
“Way before I joined the Socialist Party, I had a meeting with Fred M’membe and I looked into his eyes and still saw the man who loved people as he was saying and articulating the Socialist ideals…. that intelligent person,” he said.
“A party that is in a hurry to form government so that they have access to national resources and enrich themselves, they would not structure their party in the manner I have come to learn the Socialist Party is doing. Nobody joins SP and is immediately unleashed. There is a process of preparations. The socialist ideology has to be inculcated in you; justice, equity, humanism, patriotism, service, loyalty, discipline, peace – these you must live by as values and that is what you should be known for.”
