South Korea considers military deployment to the Strait of Hormuz in support of the United States

South Korea is considering deploying military assets to the Strait of Hormuz amid escalating tensions with Iran and growing concerns over maritime security.

Seoul is reportedly examining several options, including a maritime patrol aircraft, a logistics support vessel, or a mine-detection and mine-clearing unit.

The plan has been discussed with the United States 🇺🇸, United Kingdom 🇬🇧 and France 🇫🇷, according to reports.

South Korea’s presidential office says the objective is to provide support within this year, although no final decision on a deployment has yet been made.

Any deployment would potentially expand the international military presence around one of the world’s most strategically important waterways, where tensions remain high amid the confrontation involving Iran and the United States.
