SP DISMISSES UPND’s 90% DELIVERY CLAIMS AS “AN INSULT TO THE PEOPLE”

Kitwe… Monday April 21, 2025 — The Socialist Party (SP) has strongly rejected recent claims from State House suggesting that the UPND government has delivered 90% of its campaign promises, describing the statement as both “false” and “an outright insult” to the people of Zambia.

In a press statement released by Copperbelt Provincial Chairperson Dr. Brian Chirambo, the Socialist Party argued that the reality on the ground was in stark contrast to the government’s self-praise.

Dr. Chirambo said the people of the Copperbelt were enduring worsening poverty, mass unemployment, and a deepening economic crisis — conditions he contended clearly disproved the government’s narrative.

Dr. Chirambo pointed to recent protests in Chingola, stating that residents had taken to the streets not out of political mischief, but out of frustration and desperation.

He said the protests were a clear signal of a government that had “failed to create jobs, revive mining towns, or bring meaningful change” to ordinary citizens.

Further highlighting the economic challenges facing the province, the Socialist Party chairperson noted that in Kitwe’s Chisokone Market, traders were being forced to close their businesses due to skyrocketing living costs and unsustainable operating conditions.

He added that the situation in Chililabombwe was equally dire, with residents facing daily uncertainty as the future of the mines remained unclear and job creation efforts had stalled.

According to Dr. Chirambo, the UPND government had delivered “nothing but broken promises, rising costs, and deepening poverty” rather than the “new dawn” it had promised during its campaign.

He criticized the government’s reports as “fantasy” and stated that the people of the Copperbelt were living through a “prolonged nightmare.”

The Socialist Party pledged to continue speaking out on behalf of struggling citizens, vowing to stand with miners, traders, youths, and all Zambians who felt abandoned by the current administration.

Dr. Chirambo concluded his statement by calling the 90% fulfillment claim “delusional at its highest level” and demanded both accountability and real change from those in power.

  1. You are blind that’s why you can’t see. Those with eyes can see that the mines have been revived. Free education, employment of teachers, nurses etc, economic growth etc.

    • Bosses, the entire country must be blind, except UPND and stronghold brigade members. It is that blindness that will make the country vote accordingly.

      Vote for change in 2026

  2. Iwe Dr Chirambo, you appear not to have any clue how to alleviate what you claim to be seeing. Your criticism is hollow as you do not know how to resolve what you are refuting. Your criticism is are a useless opposition. Chimbwi no plan. What doctorate do you hold in that blank mind?

  3. Only people who are evil and led by Satan cannot appreciate the good things others have done and continue doing. This type of people are very dangerous in society because you can’t exactly tell their motive. Because to be truthful UPND had done quite alot in the short period of time despite facing great difficult times as a paty in government and i will try by the grace of God to list or count them not all but a few both the challenges and what they have done.

    CHALLENGES
    1. They inherited a brocken down economy full of debts and defaults from the PF.
☆ PF had borrowed heavily not only from multinational flexible lenders but even to KALOBA type lenders – the EUROBOND which was maturing in 2024, 2025/2026? And in 2027. Just on the first one for US$750 Million which they borrowed for the purpose of recaptalising Zambia railways. They squandered the money forced the then ZR Chief Exercutive Officer Clive Chirwa out of the job and everything fell apart in the end they defaulted in 2020 bringing total misery to the Country because our status was completely destroyed as being not trustworthy..
☆ Our economy was operating under or shoukd i say in the pit because it was In the negative too much debt, late payment to civil servants, not paying even our local contractors and suppliers everything was in a confused state while cadres also were collecting revenue from the markerts and bus stops instead of the Councils hence complicating more in terms of salaries and service delivery to the people and the council at large whose workers went for more than eight ( 8 ) months without getting their salaries.
☆ PF tried to negotiate with the lenders for debt restructuring but they failed terribly. They hired a French consuiting firm to assisr them but all was in vain it never worked despite paying them more than US$500 million as a broker but even then nothing worked because the name of the Country was already dented, we were simply at that point not credible
☆ University students meal allowances were scrapt off by PFwhile the few preveraged students who got schalirships and loans, the pay back was increased in % to 15%. Think about that?. And only a few known to the system and PF cadres were preveraged the rest were thrown out.
☆ There was total break down in the rule of law only cadres and PF cadres for that matter were more powerful and with alot money to play around with; some of which they burnt without even being punished because KASAKA Kandalama was their umbrella to shield them.
☆ There were places like KAMUGODI where citizens went through hell but even when they cried no one came to their rescue this even berated to the gassing which claimed alot of lives.
☆ No one was allowed to wear a red attire because PF cadres would beat mercelesly such a one. It was hell never seen in this Country before.
☆ Drought which greatly affected our food security and e energy – these are natural in the making. No one liaternef because CADRES had full control over them.

NOW and ACHIEVEMENTS BY UPND GOVT.
    1. Have managed to bring and restore the rule of law in our Country.
    2. Have managed to restructure our countries debt.
    3. Have provided leadership and restored the fiscal space and economical management.
    4. Reinstated the meal allowances for our students in public universities
    5. Have brought free education.
    6. Almost all government institutions are getting their salaries on time.
    7. All Zambians now are one be it in green, yellow or red attire are free to wear their political uniforms and mingle together as one. No more frictions.
    8. CDF has been increased to K30.6 millions and being shared equitably on time and to all constituencies without segregation.
    9. Mass recruitment of our youths in various portfolios without segregation and this had seen many graduates who have been on the streets for more than 7 years being employed as teachers, nurses, soldiers etc. More than 70,000 in government alone has been employed.
    10. Dignity has been restored at international level.
    11. People are being encouraged to work hard for something not always relying on handouts and this is being seen and slowly taking shape.
    12. Projects are taking shape everywhere in the Country through and using CDF. Schools are being built, health facilities are being constructed, desks are being procured in Schools, children are being fed in Schools, government is paying for children from vulnerable families in boarding schools, skills trainings are being offered to our youths. Talk of cash for work and food for work programs including the ones which was ther during the drought for pregnant women, houses for our Chiefs being built.

These ! – the ones above are big achievement that no one can pretend not to see, if not so, just do it at your own peril

Otherwise UPND has greatly done alot – Excellent work so far.

NOW, ther are things tgat are still hanging which is on their check list and they acknowledge them.

    Things like,
    1. Cost of living is still high making it difficult for poor families to make it
    2. Issue of loadshading which has greatly affected small businesses to survive and make it
    3. Stablising the exchange rate.

The three above are the ones which are critical and government is very much aware about it and as the President is always saying these are on his check list because it is on his work agenda. To a wise and normal person on the issue of or on the drought which has greatly affected the two items above – FOOD security and energy in it electricity- these voices you are in today will be no more by the end of the year by the grace of God because of what the UPND government had put in place and is doing. Maturity time is almost there being medium and long term, you will soon continue lying but in vain.

We greatly thank you God our LORD for your love. Thank You Father
