Stakeholders Warn Against Rushing To Remove Former President Edgar Lungu’s Immunity

Stakeholders are calling for patience in the quest to have former president Edgar Lungu’s immunity removed to allow him respond to corruption allegations committed during his term of office by him and his contacts.

Following disclosures by investigative wings on the high number of cases of graft being investigated involving former government officials and both leaders and members of the ruling party, the Patriotic Front -PF-, some sections of society are calling for the removal of immunity for the immediate former president.

But in an interview with Phoenix News, People’s Alliance for Change -PAC- president Andyfold Banda has observed that there is a rush to judge the former president with corruption yet none of the people is alleged to have been acting with has been arrested in connection with the same allegations.

Meanwhile, Movement for National Transformation –MNT- President Daniel Shimunza says there is need for clear evidence before rushing to removing Mr. Lungu’s immunity.
