STATEMENT BY THE MONZE DISTRICT YOUTH ON THE BRAWL AT NEW TOOTERS

We are saddened to learn about the unfortunate incident involving Mr Buumba’ Pandwe, a member of the Patriotic Front (PF) and a former Councillor for Monze Urban and some Youth. In a video doing rounds on social media, Mr Pandwe alleges that he was beaten by some suspected members of the UPND, after a misunderstanding at a local pub known as New Tooters.

This incident has attracted negative media on the UPND when in fact, the Party should be completely detached from this sad altercation. Going by the narration of Mr Pandwe, we are more than convinced that this was a private matter among citizens and at no point was any individual acting in the name of the Party.

It is in this light that we urge Mr Pandwe to report the matter to the Police rather than rush to the media to seek unnecessary public attention and sympathy while dragging the name of the UPND in the mud.

As Monze Youth, we strongly take exception at the attempt to malign the party. UPND is fully focused on the developmental agenda as laid out in the Party Manifesto and reaffirmed by HE Hakainde Hichilema in his various pronouncements.

We would like to reiterate that UPND abhors violence in all it’s forms and it should not be condoned by all well meaning citizens.

Lastly, we would like to encourage all Youth to engage in productive activities and play a key part in the various developmental programs as laid down by the New Dawn Government that are aimed at alleviating poverty through job creation especially for the majority unemployed and impoverished Youth in the nation, among others.
