STUDENTS DENY MEDIA REPORTS THAT THEY PLAN TO PROTEST IN SOLIDARITY WITH FORMER PRESIDENT EDGAR LUNGU AHEAD OF HIS ELIGIBILITY CASE TOMORROW
The National Council of Student Unions has dismissed social media reports suggesting that students from various institutions of higher learning plan to protest in solidarity with former President Edgar Lungu ahead of his eligibility case tomorrow.
Addressing the media in Lusaka this morning, National Council of Student Unions Secretary-General, Vincent Sakala clarified that students are non-partisan and will not align themselves with any political agenda.
Mr. Sakala says students support the government of the day and prioritize fostering unity and development rather than engaging in divisive politics.
He explains that contrary to the allegations, the students will not gather at the court premises but will instead follow the constitutional proceedings through live broadcasts and has assured that the student’s body remains committed to constructive dialogue and collaboration with government in addressing national issues.
