SUBJECTS of chief Siachitema in Kalomo District in Southern Province have out-rightly rejected their traditional leader’s directive to them to contribute K60 for the construction of his place saying Government has pledged to do the job.
On April, 29, 2022, a meeting was held with several headmen in attendance in Siachitema zone where a resolution was arrived at that each household must contribute a K60 towards the construction of a chief’s new palace and renovations of some palace buildings.
Now, the subjects, through their village headmen, have rejected the directive and yesterday petitioned District Commissioner, Joshua Sikaduli, to annul this undertaking after word went round that the idea for contributions was hatched by an individual who is in Livingstone in whose account the said money must be deposited.
The villagers want the District Commissioner to annul this undertaking as they believe Government is still committed to constructing the chiefs’ palaces saying they are at sea as to why they must contribute towards a project which in on the plans of Government.
