TELL HH, POLICE TO ALLOW OPPOSITION CAMPAIGNS – LUBINDA
GIVEN Lubinda says Cornelius Mweetwa should advise President Hakainde Hichilema to instruct the police to stop preventing the opposition from campaigning.
The PF Acting President was responding to Mweetwa, who said there was no law which prevents any citizen from going out to interact and share their views with citizens in public spaces.
In an interview, Monday, Lubinda said Mweetwa’s statements about opposition campaign freedoms were hypocritical.
“I advise Cornelius Mweetwa to go and explain that to President Hakainde, so that President Hakainde can further instruct his Inspector General of Police that the Inspector General of Police must not stop people who are notifying him of their desire to have campaign rallies”.

There is a time designated for campaigns by the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) otherwise we will spend five years campaigning in between elections. If that time comes and the opposition are denied “permits”, then we will know the police are up to no good.
Campaign meetings need police presence by their nature, for order and crowd control. If parties start their campaigns now the police will be preoccupied with these meetings. The ECZ gives a three months window just before elections for campaigns, if I recall correctly.
And what did you do when you chikala’s were in power. You were brutally beating us. Now you are complaining about the same tings you were doing.

Lubinda has a short and poor memory. The same PF did not allow HH to campaign in 2021, when he tried, he was detained at Chipata Airport for hours, he entered Nakonde at 02 hrs because he could not be allowed during the day, in Chingola he wanted to go to Church, he was shot at with the intention of killing him. When that failed, he was given a heavy escort of more that 30 vehicles ensuring that he came back to Lusaka. In Ndola he had to go through the roof and in Mansa, he had to a bush road in order to dodge the PF cadres. We can go on and on, the list is endless, is Lubinda telling us that he doesn’t know about all these things or he has just forgotten? HH has greatly normalized things, people are free to wear any regalia they like or want and in most cases, people are not even aware of the by elections because violence is the thing of the past.
And what popularity can Lubinda boast of to HH, because he is already a rejected in his PF faction.
In opposition you meet many challenges which you have to overcome, you do not ask your opponent for help, remember he used to scale roof tops as part of overcoming challenges, he used to use bush paths to avoid live bullets from police etc. You don’t have to wait for police clearance to campaign because there many methods to campaigning. even in the bar you campaign over a glass of beer, muma saloon, mutunyimbo etc. otherwise muza Nyala.
But you are the same people who started this nonsense when HH was in opposition yet now you are complaining.
