Tesla says customers who reserved a Roadster might never receive their cars

Tesla unveiled its second-generation Roadster again on Thursday, nearly a decade after its original reveal, making even bigger promises despite never delivering the car to customers who had paid deposits of up to $250,000.

However, as InsideEVs reported, Tesla’s new reservation agreement states that it cannot guarantee when or even if the Roadster will be delivered.

Despite accepting reservations worth up to $250,000, the company only promises an approximate place in line if production begins.

Since the Roadster is still in development, Tesla says its price, features, and specifications could change before production. Final pricing will only be confirmed when customers can configure their cars.

Production is currently expected to begin in 2028, but Tesla has a history of delays, and the previous Roadster version never reached production.
