PRESS STATEMENT ON 03RD DECEMBER 2021
THE 100 DAYS OF PRESIDENT HICHILEMA IN OFFICE HAS BEEN DISAPPOINTING AND EMBARRASSING.
As Rainbow party, we feel the 100 days of president Hakainde Hichilema in office have been disappointing and embarrassing in the sense that he has u-turned on most of his campaign promises that gave him victory.
President Hichilema has totally u-turned his promises which is causing frustration among his cadres and the general public. The country has witnessed a number of Protests from the students, worker’s and marketeers as well as the UPND cadres that have gone as far as locking up offices for the newly appointed district commissioners.
He promised that after he is sworn in.. by 14:00hrs the Kwacha will appreciate but today the Kwacha has only depreciated to K18. He promised to give back meal allowances to students but nothing has happened. He promised to reduce fertilizer, mealie meal, electricity tarrifs, Fuel but nothing has happened.
And what is more annoying is that president Hichilema has taken the route he previously condemned of appointing cadres and tribesmen in civil service. He promised to appoint young people and women in decision making positions but surprisingly has has done the opposite.He strongly condemned former president Edgar Lungu for globetrotting but today he is a darling of globetrotting.
The only achievements that president Hichilema has made is MAKING MORE SPEECHES, TAKING PHOTOS WITH WHITEMEN and MAKING WIDE ALLEGATIONS AGAINST PAST REGIME
As a Party, we can only conclude that president Hakainde Hichilema 100 days in office have been disappointing and embarrassing. Thus we can only urge the Zambian people to forgive President Hichilema for abandoning his campaign promises. In addition to this, we appeal to the Zambian to prepare themselves for hard times ahead as the IMF conditions come into force next year.
