The Felix Mutati Diaries
By Dickson Jere
I think, Felix Mutati, should write his Memoirs now. He has a very interesting political life.
Having joined Parliament in 2001 after winning the Lunte seat under the MMD, Mutati has served in government far more than many leaders.
He was briefly appointed deputy Minister and later Minister of Energy under President Levy Mwanawasa, SC.
Mutati later served as Minister under President Rupiah Banda until 2011 hwn the MMD lost power. He then reappeared in PF government under President Edgar Lungu as Minister of Finance and later moved to Ministry of Works and Supply. He had maintaied his seat as Lunte MP for three consecutive terms – 2001, 2006 and 2011.
The former Zesco Director and renowned Accountant reappeared again. He was nominated and appointed as Minister by President Hakainde Hichilema in his first term as served as Minister of Technology.
And today, he reemerged as newly nominated MP. He is President of the opposition MDC, which he formed as a breakaway party from the MMD. He jas been embroiled in long legal battles with Nevers Mumba over the leadership of the MMD but left after he lost the case in court.
So he has served four Presidents out of the seven Zambia Heads of State.
What a career!

Is it a good or bad thing, serving 4 Presidents with different policies? What does it say about one’s personality?
