President Hakainde Hichilema says the living reservoir of the country’s political history is fast depleting.

Speaking during late president Rupiah Banda’s funeral procession at Show Grounds in Lusaka today, the Head of State noted that the founding generation of the country is fast disappearing.

President Hichilema called on the current generation to learn from the older generation that endured over years to keep Zambia together as a united people.

“We should embraced tolerance as president Banda always did. Let is be friendly not only to one but to all. Lets us live in peace and harmony with ourselves, with our neighbors, with members of this global village that God put us together to share equally and fairly as it is and it should be into the future,” he said.

“We must always be in service to other and obviously to our countries. To the Banda family, it is because of his positive attributes that we will greatly miss president Rupiah Bwezani Banda. His demise is a loss not only to you as a family but to the entire nation, region, Africa and the world.”

President Hichilema thanked the late president for contributing immensely to Zambia’s betterment.

“Mrs Thandiwe Banda, the children, grandchildren and the rest of the Banda family, we feel and sincerely share your loss and sorrow. Thank you for the immense contributions you made towards the betterment of our motherland Zambia, the continent and the rest of the continent,” he said.
