THE Tonse-Pamodzi Alliance Council of Presidents has not issued any statement on the just-ended elections, the death of Mutotwe Kafwaya, or the incarceration of Brian Mundubile, Makebi Zulu and others.
Tonse Alliance member and Economic Freedom Fighters president Kasonde Mwenda says the public should therefore not regard a statement circulating in the name of the alliance as a collective position of the Tonse-Pamodzi Alliance.
Dr. Chris Zumani Zimba, founder of the Tonse Alliance, has been quoted by the Zambia Daily Mail as saying President Hakainde Hichilema won the just-ended elections.
In the statement attributed to Dr. Zimba, he is also reported to have called on Brian Mundubile and Makebi Zulu to recognize President Hichilema as Head of State, arguing that this could help ease the path towards dialogue between President Hichilema and Brian Mundubile.
However, a separate statement believed to have been issued by the Tonse-Pamodzi Alliance media team has rejected Dr. Zimba’s position.
Kasonde Mwenda, who is a member of the Tonse-Pamodzi Alliance Council of Presidents, says the council has not collectively endorsed the positions attributed to Dr. Zimba nor that of the media team.
