Trump Explains Why North Korea Has Nukes While Iran Is Not Allowed To
President Donald Trump has been asked why North Korea is allowed to possess nuclear weapons while Iran is being prevented from developing them
Trump responded that North Korea was able to build its nuclear arsenal because the United States had “a different president” who could have stopped it.
Trump also described North Korean leader Kim Jong Un as a friend, saying Kim respects him and that he maintains a different relationship with Pyongyang than previous U.S. administrations.
He acknowledged that North Korea has a significant nuclear capability but said it is not comparable to the U.S. arsenal.
Trump has continued to oppose Iran obtaining nuclear weapons while seeking to keep diplomatic channels open with Tehran, creating a sharp contrast between Washington’s current approach to the two countries.
North Korea, meanwhile, continues to expand its nuclear and missile capabilities and has rejected international demands to abandon its nuclear weapons program.
