Trump Says US Will End $4 Billion in Annual Aid to Israel
US President Donald Trump has announced that Washington will end its annual financial assistance to Israel after the end of 2026, claiming the country no longer needs the funding.
Trump said he had reached an agreement with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu months ago to terminate the payments, which he described as approximately $4 billion annually.
Despite the planned move, Trump said the United States would continue selling weapons to Israel and provide assistance if the country needed it.
However, the announcement raises questions about the future of the existing US-Israel military assistance agreement, which provides Israel with $3.8 billion annually through September 2028.
Trump did not explain how the funding would be terminated or which specific assistance programs would be affected. Any changes to congressional appropriations would require action by the US Congress.
Neither the White House nor Netanyahu’s office had immediately provided further details or publicly confirmed the reported agreement.
The announcement comes amid growing political debate in the United States over military assistance to Israel and Washington’s continued role in the Middle East conflict.
