TUSK DISMISSES ORBÁN UN CHIEF SPECULATION AS RIDICULOUS

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has joined the scepticism surrounding reports that the Trump administration is considering Viktor Orbán as a potential candidate for United Nations Secretary-General.

“I haven’t heard anything about it,” Tusk said, comparing the suggestion with earlier rumours linking Orbán to the presidency of the European Commission. He described both ideas as equally ridiculous.

For Ukraine, the irony is difficult to miss. Orbán’s repeated obstruction of European decisions supporting Kyiv has already drawn sharp criticism from Ukrainian officials. The suggestion that he could move into a position tasked with building international cooperation was hardly likely to receive a warm welcome.

Tusk’s response adds another dismissive voice to the discussion. The reported idea remains speculation—not an announced candidacy or an appointment.
