U.S. Backs Saudi-Led Offensive Against Houthis With Intelligence Support, but Rules Out Direct Military Involvement  Axios Reports

The United States is supporting a Saudi-led military offensive against Yemen’s Houthi movement by providing intelligence assistance to the Kingdom, while Washington is not directly participating in the fighting, according to Axios.

According to the report, Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman asked U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth to launch American airstrikes against the Houthis. However, U.S. officials reportedly indicated that Washington is not currently planning direct military action against the group.

The report further states that U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has opposed launching a direct military campaign against the Houthis, warning that opening another front in Yemen could divert American military resources and attention away from Iran, which remains Washington’s primary focus.

The reported position highlights Washington’s attempt to support its Saudi ally while avoiding a direct confrontation with the Houthis that could complicate its broader military priorities in the region.
