UK MAN DRIVES 30,000KM TO BULAWAYO IN CHARITY MISSION FOR VULNERABLE CHILDREN
BULAWAYO — A British-based Zimbabwean has completed an epic 30,000-kilometre road trip from Birmingham in the United Kingdom to Bulawayo as part of a fundraising drive for vulnerable children.
Nkosinathi Mathe arrived in Bulawayo on Saturday after driving from Birmingham to Zimbabwe in a journey aimed at raising funds for SOS Children’s Villages UK
Mathe undertook the gruelling journey to support vulnerable, orphaned and abandoned children and raise awareness of the organisation’s work providing stable family environments and communities.
He was received at Bulawayo City Hall on Saturday, September 19, 2026, by Councillor O D Nkomo on behalf of Bulawayo Mayor Senator David Coltart.
The remarkable road trip saw Mathe cover approximately 30,000 kilometres between the United Kingdom and Bulawayo.
His fundraising mission is focused on supporting SOS Children’s Villages UK, which works to provide care, family support and communities for children who cannot live with their biological families.
Mathe’s arrival was marked by a reception in Bulawayo, with city officials and residents welcoming him after the extraordinary journey.
The City of Bulawayo said his drive was undertaken in support of vulnerable, orphaned and abandoned children worldwide, turning a mammoth cross-continental road trip into a charitable mission.
