UKRAINE ESTIMATES 1,990 RUSSIAN PERSONNEL LOSSES IN ONE DAY
Just ten short of 2,000. Ukraine’s General Staff estimates that Russia suffered another 1,990 personnel casualties in its October 26 update, bringing estimated cumulative personnel losses since February 24, 2022, to approximately 1,580,440.
These are personnel losses, not a count of confirmed deaths. Even with that distinction, the daily estimate illustrates the punishing scale of attrition as Russia continues its invasion.
The same update lists losses of 18 artillery systems, two multiple-launch rocket systems, one air defense system, one tank, four armored combat vehicles and 322 vehicles and fuel tankers.
A single daily report cannot establish a continuous trend, but nearly 2,000 personnel casualties in one reporting period underscores the human cost of sustaining this war. Behind the Kremlin’s claims of progress are troops killed or wounded and units requiring replacements.
Russia’s leadership continues demanding more from its soldiers while refusing to end the invasion that is consuming them.
