Ukrainian Drone Swarm Targets St. Petersburg Oil Terminal as Fires Erupt Across Russian Region

A large-scale drone attack struck St. Petersburg and the surrounding Leningrad region overnight on October 18, with explosions reported and fires breaking out at key infrastructure sites.

Russian regional authorities reported that air defenses intercepted dozens of drones, while emergency crews responded to a fire at the St. Petersburg Oil Terminal, a major facility handling petroleum products for export.

Footage circulating online showed explosions and fires around the city’s port area. Ukrainian monitoring channels reported that port infrastructure and a data center were among the suspected targets, although the full extent of the damage has not been independently verified.

Reports of damage to bridges and residential buildings also remain unconfirmed. The number of drones involved in the overall attack and the extent of the damage are still being assessed as the situation develops.
