UNIP EXPELS PARTY PRESIDENT BISHOP TREVOR MWAMBA

By Shem Malinda

The United National Independence Party (UNIP) has expelled party President Bishop Trevor Mwamba following an extraordinary Central Committee meeting held on June, 4, 2022.

UNIP Acting President, Mike Kaira says the decision was arrived at after Bishop Mwamba failed to present himself before the party Disciplinary Committee for allegedly failing to provide leadership.

Mr. Kaira says the expulsion creates a vacancy permitting the vice president to act and, unanimously ratified Mike Kaira to perform the functions of the party President.

He adds that the party has since nullified all appointments made by Bishop Mwamba, consequently appointed and ratified board members on all UNIP Companies, Finance Committee and Board of Trustees.

By press time Bishop Mwamba could not be reached.
