UNZA

By Joan Musabila

Some desperate first year students at the University of Zambia-UNZA today took to the streets to raise tuition fees because they were left out on government bursary.

The emotional youths were found by Diamond News along Addis Ababa Road where they sought financial assistance from motorists but only raised five hundred kwacha.

The group says it has lost hope of ever making it on the bursary scheme hence the majority are at the mercy of well-wishers for help unless the government steps in to rectify the problem.

Meanwhile, Minister of Education, Joel Kamoko, has expressed dismay at the action taken by the students because plans are underway by the government to include beneficiaries to the sixty-five-million-kwacha fund released by the Ministry of Finance.
