UPND ADOPTS LUANGWA CHAIRMAN ELECTION CANDIDATE
Lusaka – 11.08.22 UPND Elections Chairperson Garry Nkombo says the ruling party has adopted Mr. Arthur Lungu for the September 25th 2022, Luangwa Town Council Chairperson by-election because of his loyalty and dedication to the party.
Mr. Nkombo who is also Local Government and Rural Development minister says Mr. Lungu who was the party’s candidate in the 2021 General election has enough ground support as noted by the overwhelming response from the wards, constituency, district, province and the elections committee.
He has since advised stakeholders such as the police and the Electoral Commission of Zambia to play a role to ensure that this election goes incident free and added that the party is hopeful that this trajectory of peace and violence free elections continues to dominate all elections in the country.
The ECZ has meanwhile set Thursday, September 15, 2022, as dates for the Kabushi and Kwacha parliamentary constituency by-elections with the filing in of nominations set for August 25th 2022.
ECZ Corporate Affairs Manager Patricia Luhanga says the Commission has set Thursday 15th September, 2022 as the date for the Kabushi and Kwacha parliamentary by-elections in Ndola and Kitwe respectively.
