UPND SUCCESSFULLY FILES IN FOR MONGU, MKUSHI WARD BY-ELECTIONS
…as PF, DP, SP lamentably; regrettably fail to field candidates
The governing United Party for National Development-UPND-has successfully filed in nominations for the impending two Ward by elections in Lumbo Ward of Mongu Municipal Council of Western Province and Nshinso Ward of Mukushi Town Council of Central Province, respectively.
The UPND, alongside leadership Movement (LM) and Economic Front (EF), today successfully filed in nominations while the immediate past ruling PF lamentably failed to filed in candidate.
And the Fred Membe Socialist Party (SP), famed for being the next in line to take over from the UPND-led, New Dawn Administration and their [rebranding] Given Lubinda-steered, now defunct PF failed to field in candidates for the impending elections.
The Electoral governing body has in accordance with the law prescribed
The past regime has lamentably failed to find candidates for the said Ward by-election.
The election has been necessitated by the demise of Councillor Akakelwa Wakumelo who passed passed away on 5th April, 2022.
The Commission has since called upon the successful aspirants to abide by the electoral code of conduct by providing the necessary number of accredited party officials or members to observe and monitor the said elections in lieu with the law.
According to recent results, the ruling UPND is poised to emerge victorious in both elections.
