UPND WILL NOT SUFFER THE SAME FATE AS THE RULING PARTY IN BOTSWANA WHERE THE PARTY IN POWER HAS LOST ELECTIONS – VEEP

By Leah Ngoma

Vice President Mutale Nalumango says the UPND government will not suffer the same fate as the ruling party in neighboring Botswana where the ruling party has lost the just ended general elections.

Mrs. Nalumango says this is because the current regime is working hard to meet its obligation to the people.

Responding to a question from Lumezi Member of Parliament Munir Zulu who wanted to know what the current regime makes of the election result in neighboring countries in apparent reference to Botswana where the outgoing president Mokgweetsi Masisi has only served one term, Mrs. Nalumango says the current regime is comfortably in office knowing that they will emerge victorious in the 2026 elections.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Nalumango says there is nowhere in the UPND manifesto where it says the exchange rate will be reduced to K10 and that it is impossible to fix the rate because it keeps fluctuating.

Speaking in parliament this morning during the vice president`s question time, Mrs. Nalumango who admitted that the UPND promised to reduce the exchange rate in the run up to the 2021 general elections said the current regime has actually recorded success in terms of managing the exchange rate especially that the global economy has gone through a lot of difficulties.

  1. For me i absolutely see nothing wrong that this government has done to warrant replacement. When you reasonably and critically look into what thjs government has sone in a sgort perios of time, it is marvellous. However, this can only be seen by people with the eyes of the hesrt and physical ones; people who by Employing wisdom and strategic thinking can see from afar and within and will say everything is just going well. Think of what President Levy Patrick Mwanawasa did at a very critical time abd crossroad junction, again coming from the destruction of the economy abd mass corruption in Fredrick Titus Chilibas government and also the very huge debt, but he started ths procedd of fixing the brocken economy anf he told the natuon to tighten up their elts brcause tge journey wss rough and tough. He managed the HIPC ( high indebted poor counties) program.our debt was forgiven about US$7 billion to only i tgink US$500 million if not all erased. He stabilsed the currency and by the time God called him bavk home kwacha to dollar wss US$1 to ZMK 3.50 just imagine. Think about that incredible and marvellous work well done. FISP was introduced and einter maize. A visionary lesder who did not rely on Chilubas vision.

Yes People are complaining of the high cost of leaving but this is temperal, jus as i have explaoned how it was furing Levy Patrick Mwanawasas government.

When you compare the performance of the Zambian econpmy now to then (In PF) there’s absolutely and quite a very big difference altogether. We were completely, as a Country before August 2021 covered in an abnormal suffocating debt. The debt that left us just with the mouth and eyes to watch and see otherwise we were gone because of this python that was brought by someone with no vision and proper planning wgo brought into our territory this miserable issue that started engulfing us

Added to the python, there was totally break down of the rule of law, disorderly and killings was a daily film that graduated from normalcy death to KAMUGODI and gassing created and engineered by propagandist, not forgetting the maiming of citizens by other citizens this was absolutely very bad and unwarranted – a sorry sight inderd. Thank God that, that is no more but for people to think of going back kumalushi, it is very unfortunate and saddening to see people glorifying the same people who mercilessly killed their sisters, their fathers and mothers imcluding their uncles and cousins gives me sleepless nights and cry for mother Zambia. But trully where blood is shed God does not feel good and even those who kill innocent souls including their adversaries and associates will be answerable for their sins. They can be happy but just for a short time because His hand the LORD ALMIGHTY is with us whatever the devil will say and do, we are always under the shelter of the Mighty one of Isreal KING JESUS OF NAZARETH and we as the elect have salvation in HIM which He has already granted us.

So there’s nothing like comparing Zambia to Botswana. Zambia is a different and unique Country, and a sovereign country for that matter. The Republican Vice President has spoken and awutemwa ukusabaila nefitala akayimwena. No wonder others are faking sickness but just to run from a hospital bed and disappear others arr abconding court sessions but just to hide in a cealing board. Others are just……

So dreaming is good nokusabaila nakwena kusuma but for how long. Inga balikunukula, balikusesha chalipwa doing things but when you continue doing things illegally with impunity is very dangerous and it leads to miserable ending. So tondolo musumaaaa!

  2. This is a season of one term presidents in African.

Those that make promises and fail to fulfill them will be ejected.

There is no room for liars, corruption, tribalism or imingalato in SADC. In Zambia, we will emulate Botswana. Not even his own people will save him this time.

    The hour has come!

    Vote wisely in 2026.

    • Kulibe One term WHY and HOW? You will see. There is going to be no difference in what you are seeing during by-elections. UPND is going to be with you for a while unfortunately. Abreast yourself with forward 2026 and beyond. Look at this:-
*My children are now going to school no worry of fees, even Exam is paid for me and we are in millions then you think I vote out UPND?
      * Finished diploma/degree in 2018 no job; to day UPND government has employed me on permanent and pensionable salary then you think I can vote out UPND? How mad am I?
      * I used to struggle to buy food at the University..now the government is giving me enough meal allowances INCLUDING paying for my accommodation hhmmm imwe then I vote out UPND? NOW even some Private Universities are getting Bursaries and meal allowances courtesy of UPND and are in hundred of thousands with voter’s cards.
      * Old and vulnerable all are voters and are on Social Cash program. Imagine seated in the village and given k800 others with special needs K1200 then you think they are mad to bite the finger that is feeding them?
      * Grants to serious youths, some are in good business to day courtesy of UPND.
      * Tertiary education sponsorship mechanic, electricaians, heavy equipment technicians, teachers, nurses, carpenters, bricklayers…etc. sponsored and some are graduating with tools to start their business…then you think they can vote out UPND? Now they are getting their salaries and are able to buy the same mealie meal you are saying is expensive.
REMEMBER the narration is just what I can remember BUT their are so many people touched by the UPND government through CDF. My dear friend they are in millions and not in one region but across the country.
A Chief who has been staying in a small traditional house now some have even shifted in their NEW MORDEN Palaces with running water and solar including Chief retainer houses and conference halls mu village…ah imwe what makes you not see this? You just stick to mealie meal, cost of living. Failed promises eeh bla bla. Programs are there for you to counteract cost of living mind you it is not only in Zambia but world wide.
I have just come from East Africa same Hotel I use in Feb 2024 all charges were like double or slightly more that double.
REMAIN DREAMING untill you get shocked in your nightmare on 17/08/2026.

  4. The stage Botswana has gone through is what we went through already in 1991 when we removed UNIP, the long serving party of 27 years. BDP has ruled Botswana since independence in 1966, i.e. 58 years in power, I am sure that was too much and boring to the people. But to think that HH is a one term President is not only delusional but wishful thinking as well. HH is still there up to 2031, HH is the President for students, farmers, Miners, Civil Servants, Soldiers, Chiefs etc, he is the President for all Zambians. Tamwamwene mailo ku Mulungushi Vesity, some people even developed diarrhea, after seeing the wonderful reception he had there. That’s not how a one term President is received, HH wakuleka fye.

  6. A house where even the mother cannot be trusted is a broken home.I had a lot of trust for mothers a while ago when we fought ECL.But today my oerspective has changed. Is it true that Nalumango is a honest mother who can be trusted any more ? Is this mother telling us that she has been blind and hence unable to tell that mealie meal today is not of the same taste it was 3 years ago ? Nshima used to give a nice spice like smell when someone is cooking but not any more ,why ? The same is true with rice …that is what has changed in Zambia regarding g food taste .Who is supplying this tasteless mealie meal ?Am I the only person not enjoying Nshima and rice today in Zambia ? What is Nalumango doing to ensure protection of the environment is put in place especially in Lsk ?Litter is extending to the doorsteps of Poor Zambians ‘ doorsteps in Lusaka compounds ,see Kamwala along the only railway line , does this reflect a working govt ? Zambia today is host to so many undocumented foreigners from Burundi Rwanda ,running most shops in Kamwala South and other compounds. When immigration officers comb the areas foreigners close shops in time to avoid being caught. This means there are officers who give foreigners tips in exchange for money.Recruitment of Teachers ,police Officers, medical staff etc is dependent on who you know today and yesterday because there is no criteria worth its salt to guide and aid in employing graduates. What explanation can Nalumango give to a scenario where eg a 2023 graduate gets posted leaving a graduate with same or better qualification who graduated in say 2012 ? When we criticise we are hated and labelled tribalism cos we are non Tongas is this fair ? Is hh the first president to be criticised by us,Zambians ? Anything that was considered sinister under pf should not be golden under upnd ,no.Police is all over the place these days ,see at Cathedral of child Jesus recently …was that according to Nalumango good in a democracy ? It takes me 4 months to see a police officer in a compound where junkies terrorise ordinary citizens but heavy police presence is seen when ecl is to be blocked…In Germany you can live fo many years without seeing a gun but her it’s common..These are issues of national significance to be tabled.Any case involving opposition mps is quickly dealt with and elections called, what will happen to our democracy if all mps in parley became upnd ? Which path is Zambia going today ?

  7. The right way to put it is that UPND may not suffer, not will not suffer, because the terrain is still not smooth yet, remember Lubindas famous quote of BAZANYALA, which changed to biblical an spiritual after elections?. We have live lessons in life, so let us s take heed and avoid repeats. It only takes a listening ear to change things.

  8. It is incorrect to compare Botswana situation to Zambia.UPND and HH are still very available. This government has worked so much in very difficult conditions.Firstly the opposition has used fake, misleading stories, lies, breaking the law with impunity, useless narrative and falsehoods. All these were proven wrong and people have realized that this was done to cause hatred and dislike to our leaders and government. If any thing the opposition failed to give alternative solutions to show that the government failed and give Zambians better ways of doing things. The climate change has affected a lot of countries on the globe. The drought situation was such bad that the hydro dependant Zambia lost a lot of energy, causing loadshading of abnormal hours and Zambians can’t blame that on government. The previous government subsidized fuel on cheat, meaning they didn’t pay for it and left a huge debt. The country was left in very huge debt which they failed to service or structure. The UPND govt stopped employment freeze and employed several young people in various government bodies. And increased some salaries of workers. The retirees were not paid and UPND started paying quickly. Some government workers are now willing to retire because they know their Pension will not be delayed as it was in PF.CDF the game changer has shown some difference leaving some young people with different skills. Some young girls are taken back to school after having babies (KGS) and are now supported up to tertiary education and employed. There is just a lot to talk about this government. We have seen a lot of swift mitigations in various situations.Free education and provisions of desks and building of classrooms country wide. The roads are getting done.Chiefs are equally supported in agriculture and housing. The good things are endless.Recoveries of looted resources is getting done. And one wants to imagine exit of UPND aah no please it won’t happen.

  9. The UPND government should focus on sorting the hunger situation and the erratic power supply. A hungry population thinks with its collective stomach and is rarely objective, to the extent of clutching at straws. HH has done remarkably well considering the extensive damage that was done by the notorious PF. However, if people go to bed with rumbling stomachs, this might not amount to much.

The power outages have played havoc with the economy especially that it is so unpredictable. It has a domino effect. I can’t get packaging because my supplier cannot produce due to lack of power. As a result I can’t produce to supply my customers. This is repeated on so many fronts.

The most unfortunate thing would be to bring back the notorious PF because they would quickly embark on destroying the gains under UPND and in little less than three years, we would be a failed state. This time it will be next to impossible to kick them out through peaceful means. Imagine ba Lungu coming back, would he ever hand over power if he lost the ballot? No, No, No!

If hunger and power outages persist, the possibility of UPND being a one term government is there, unnerving as the thought may be to some of us.
