VICE PRESIDENT MUTALE NALUMANGO JUSTIFIES TRANSFER OF MINISTRY OF FINANCE OFFICIALS BEING INVESTIGATED FOR CORRUPTION

Vice President Mutale Nalumango says there is nothing illegal about the transferring of Permanent Secretaries and Directors at the Ministry of Finance and the Office of the Auditor General being investigated for illegal payments to the Cabinet Office and the Public Services Management Division.
Mrs. Nalumango says Zambians should however be proud of the action the government has taken on the accused officers as it shows how serious it is in protecting their resources.
Responding to questions raised by various Members of Parliament during the Vice President’s Question Time in parliament this morning, Mrs. Nalumango also says the government does not expect service delivery to be affected as a result of this development.
Mrs. Nalumango has denied accusations that the government is micromanaging the country through the action taken on the affected senior public service workers adding that everything is being done within the law.
Following a special audit of the Integrated Financial Management Information system for the period 2018 to 2021, President Hakainde Hichilema directed that the ongoing investigations be conducted without any interference.
