WE ARE PROUD POLICE DID NOT OPEN FIRE IN CHINGOLA – STATE HOUSE
State House Chief Communications Specialist Clayson Hamasaka says President Hakainde Hichilema endured bullets, stones, and teargas during his time in opposition suffering that must never be repeated.
“Now that citizens have elected him, some criminals want to continue that abuse? No. These are the last kicks of a dying horse,” Hamasaka said, commending security officers for opening fire.
He added that the President’s visit to Chiwempala was a last-minute decision to meet people who had lost their livelihoods, a change he fully takes responsibility for.
“There will be law and order,” Hamasaka said. “Peace is what Zambians voted for, and peace is what this President continues to deliver.”
Clayson Hamasaka writes:
…When he was in opposition, bullets sang past him, stones found his shoulders, and teargas turned his house into a choking night. The brutal attacks that were suffered by the first family can never be repeated….
When he was in opposition, bullets sang past him, stones found his shoulders, and teargas turned his house into a choking night.
The brutal attacks that were suffered by the first family can never be repeated.
And now, having been elected by citizens into the highest office, some criminals want to continue that abuse against our President? No.
These are the last sad kicks of a dying horse.
Zambians will not permit it. I am proud of the security services for their great conduct. We are now a country of peace. We will NEVER go back to the division and violence of the PF.
Today, our schedule did not originally include Chiwempala but the President himself insisted on visiting the people who had lost their livelihoods. I take full responsibility for this last-minute change of plan.
But let us be clear. We will not sit idly by, there shall be law and order, but peace is what we voted for and peace is what this President has delivered.
Clayson Hamasaka

They can cry for the mines but they don’t have equipment to do the mining in a proper way, the thing we hear is earth has fallen on them.If they are allowed to do their mining today within a month we are capable of losing several youths. We have heard several calls, people urging government to empower the youths to do mining, the government started giving licenses but there are some youths who want to do things badly that cause deaths through illegal mining using dangerous methods. We need order and one can not just enter in someone’s land and start digging. What happened yesterday in Chingola is very disheartening, people throwing stones and destroying property.Find time to dialogue with your government and not engaging in barbaric acts. The culprits must be found and they must be answerable. The security system must not be allowing people to hang in trees where the President is addressing meetings. The good people were ready to hear from the President and only to experience such barbaric and uncouth behavior. The Chingola people must be always alert and report some wrong characters to the police. The government of UPND wants to develop the country and make people’s lives better through several projects and empower the youths for sustainability. The market fire victims were about to hear the agenda the government was about to offer. The government has the duty to protect humans and property, the meeting would have resolved a number of issues but the criminal minded persons have delayed the progressive response from government. The Provincial Minister is a very hard working man with his team.It is very sad to see such behavior from some people who seem to have been sent by irresponsible people.
Police had no right to slaughter citizens in Chingola. Do not take peace loving citizens for granted. People are really suffering. They are constantly being ignored by corrupt politicians that are only interested in getting richer. The security detail should never have allowed Hakainde to go to Chingola. It was in bad taste. I hope lessons have been learnt. The good g is that Hakainde pleaded with the crowd to dialogue. The ball is now in his court. Let him not be fooled by those around him that things are well on the ground. How he reacts will define his legacy. He only has a few months remaining in office. Does he want to be remembered as a butcherer of innocent citizens, as well as a failure of a president? It is his choice. No one is happy with Hakainde being stoned. No one is happy with citizens suffering with high cost of living, load shedding, oppression and tribalism. Praise singers, stop misleading Hakainde. You are the real problem in our country.
VOTE FOR CHANGE IN 2026.
The President has been holding Public Rallies everywhere from 2021. If he attends a Church event, Traditional Ceremony, then a Public Rally is also on the cards. Even an official event, such as opening a Mine, for him it’s a public rally.
In some towns he has held over 10 Public Rallies since assuming power.
In Luanshya for example I can count over 5 Public Rallies, just this year, and still counting. Umuchinshi ulapwa.
There is a time for Mass Interactions with the people, and a time for Closed door meetings.
On the Chingola Fire, the Disaster Management Department in conjunction with local civic leaders should have assessed the extent of the damage, identified the beneficiaries, and then offer support.. That’s how governments work. Governments don’t run on public Rallies.
If the government ‘s budget is not adequate, that’s when Philanthropy comes in from concerned individuals, including the President. Philanthropy is not the first call.
But our President believes in Public Rallies and giving money at public Rallies.
There are a lot of People who are suffering in Chingola who are not marketeers..And there are Marketeers at Chiwempala Market who were only selling Tute( Cassava ) and Groundnuts, who all of a sudden will get a Bonanza from the K10million. How will the other people feel? It is in this context that even the Small Scale Miners , the so called Jerabos , should be looked at. Why for example from the version of the police did the ” Jerabos” start looting Marketeers items before going to disrupt the Meeting? You don’t need to be a rocket Scientist to know the reasons.
When you Look at the other Sectors of the community living in dire straits , who publicly see there friends getting thousands of Kwacha , and at a Public Rally, there will be resentment obviously.
The sad part is that Mr Hakainde ‘s handlers can’t advise him, and if they do , he doesn’t take the advice as Hamasaka is saying.
Infact the Rallies he has been holding from 2021 were not necessary… just a waste of time.
But he can’t stop now, since we are now in the Election Season, and come tomorrow he will be holding another Public Rally!
What about teargas? Why wasn’t it discharged to control the bastards?
If that was PF or Lungu, all these stone throwers would be dead.
That’s not what UPND do.
Hypocritic….from loadshedding crying to this statement? Understand the issues and conduct yourself in a mature sober manner.
You want to be treated like an adult but behave way worse than a person in diapers.
Right, because blocking a presidential motorcade doesn’t demand live gunfire, right?
We must not down play this into a positive because police didn’t open fire. You open fire to neutralise a visible danger but in Chingola the hostility was from hordes of unruly youths. The blame is on the presidential security detail who exposed the President to maximum danger. Just imagine if it was a criminal with a long range hunting gun, this time the country could have gone in civil chaos. The President is government trophy No 1. His security must never be compromised. State House is off side.. Whoever advised the President to go to Chingola before securing his safety must own up.
Well said…
They were just looking at making money in allowances instead of doing their job.
You have spoken too fast, there is everything shameful about security on the head of state in this incident we can do better.
Such talk of not having fired guns do not solve the problem but agitate it and should be avoided, at this point in time, what is required is to pacify and not agitate. When you bring out such words, you only make people more resolved and they will dare you. People must learn phycology of how people react. When you dare someone, that person only becomes more resolved to challenge you. That is what causes people to claim that they are ready to die. So find better ways to resolve issues of this nature instead of daring people. PF beat up almost everyone but did people stop criticizing there caderisim, no, people just got more resolved to remove them. Go to the root cause and begin from there.
