Government has assured Zambians in the diaspora that it will expedite the processes of issuing dual citizenship in Zambia.
Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister Jacob Mwiimbu says government was putting in place measures that would expedite the application process.
Speaking in South Africa when he met Zambia’s High Commissioner to that country Major General Jackson Miti, Mr Mwiimbu said government was concerned with the slow processes of acquiring dual citizenship.
He said government was aware of the concerns expressed by Zambians in the diaspora concerning the delays, assuring that the problem would be a thing of the past soon.
Mr. Mwiimbu mentioned that government was making arrangements to enable its citizens process their application from certain Zambian Missions abroad.
He said government was also considering the option of using online platforms in order to ease challenges that Zambians abroad were facing.
Mr. Mwiimbu said government would finalize putting the necessary measures in place in the coming weeks to lessen the inconveniences.
