WHAT IS HAPPENING IN SOUTH AFRICA?
One South African Journalist wrote…
Haibo Guys #InCaseYouMissedIt The Luxurious Lives of the Lungus: South Africa’s Invisible Diplomatic Visitors A family resides in the lush Blue Valley estate in Midrand, South Africa, and their name continues to inflict anguish in Zambian political corridors, leaving a trail of controversy in its wake.
The Lungus, the immediate family of late Zambian President Edgar Lungu, are not only comfortable; they thrive. And not quietly, but in luxury.
According to sources, the family possesses a staggering 150 luxury automobiles, including a brand-new Range Rover registered to Lungu’s daughter and son-in-law. The question remains, who will foot the bill?
In addition, according to Zambian investigators, most of this opulence derives from cash embezzled during Lungu’s presidency, which is now being closely scrutinised by Zambia’s current administration.
With a corruption investigation tightening its grasp, the family’s unexpected request that Lungu be buried in South Africa (supposedly fulfilling his “dying wish” or whatever that implies) raises more than just questions.
What makes South Africa so welcoming to a fugitive legacy family? Public funds are now being used to secure a body that was never officially certified dead on South African soil. There’s no official documentation. There’s no transparency. Just privilege, shrouded in diplomatic quiet.
Given that the Lungus perform in one of Gauteng’s most prestigious neighborhoods, Zambians are understandably dealing with the consequences.
At the same time, South Africans are left questioning “Where did we go wrong?” and how this situation has become an issue for us.

The Lungu family is not being sincere in all their submissions all this while is my view! The corruption investigations on ill gotten wealth led the family into self imposed exile and Zambians now know that the Lungu’s live a luxurious life in the neighborhood of the affluent! Many past presidents around Africa have not run away from their motherland when confronted by the law they boldly stand up to the legal challenges facing them! In Zambia itself late President Chiluba (MHSRIP) did not run and the country was not treated to conspiracy talk or mistreatment by one who took over from him and lifted his immunity! Zambians even referred to him as “Lazo” but no vitriolic stance against the administration in power and an official burial was accorded him despite all court cases against him not being concluded! I wonder what the standard of “dignified burial” is if anyone can help me understand! South Africa has laws for its citizens and precedence to how they handle issues of their deceased past presidents. It’s silly to claim Lungu’s burial site is not known when there is precedent in Zambia! The only rites for Lungu are only two; those that the family may perform with his body bordering on cultural beliefs and non-existent if really he was a baptized christian and by the legal fraternity at high court on honor of his profession! The governments role is to just bury him with a guard of honor salute finish! A president claimed wanting to be buried in another president’s country indicating he had no heart for all Zambians he was privileged to serve! Bwafya! Typical of residual bickering over a dead person using the living minds to communicate! The christianity in Lungu was not that of the true faithful and believers in Christ Jesus for he wouldn’t have died with all what is being claimed were his wishes and none forgiving! Enough is enough Zambians don’t need this circus lucky that its just a body in the mortuary and it has no emotions or feelings of pain! Zambians let go you’re being robbed of the time and resources by a dead person!
