Former Lusaka Province Minister Hon. Bowman Chilosha Lusambo says he would like to work with President Hakainde Hichilema to ensure that he succeeds in his service delivery.
Hon Lusambo acknowledged that things are back economically in the country.
He said when he featured on Muvi TV yesterday that praise singers are tarnishing the name of the Head of State.
“Praise singers are doing the Presidency more harm than good. The President will now start gaging his performance based on what the praise singers are saying, which is wrong. When the students start celebrating that the President has given them meal allowances then he can say okay I have scored,” he said.
“There are medicines in hospitals, I have scored, meali meal prices have gone down, I have scored, fuel prices have gone down, I have scored, that is the measurement the President should have, not the one based on praise singers. And I hate those praise singers because they are not helping the President. They are destroying the President.”
He explained that the President made a mistake of bringing praise singers in his administration.
Hon Lusambo said if President Hichilema succeeds it means that all Zambians succeed.
“If President Hakainde Hichilema offered me a position in his administration, I wouldn’t. I want to help him so that he succeeds because things are bad currently. If President Hakainde Hichilema succeeds it means even us as Zambians have achieved. If he fails it means, we have failed. Mealie meal has become expensive, prices for commodities are escalating… K210, K220, its very expensive for the people of Zambia,” he said.
Hon Lusambo said all that praise singers do is to make noise instead of helping the President deliver on his promises.
He said considering how bad things are economically, praise singers are useless currently.
The former Kabushi lawmaker said the praise singers were only important while in opposition.
“Here is the problem, the people that the President came with from opposition, you know UPND overstayed in opposition, and there is too much noise in opposition. Now they are in ruling, this is different Mr President,” he said.
“This is why they now have praise singers because of the noise they used to make noise while in opposition. They just make noise. They are not helping the President. What other Presidents do is when they are from opposition and come into government, things change. Some of those people don’t even become part of the team no matter how much they supported the President.”
Hon Lusambo said the many ideas about governance that President Hichilema had while in opposition are seemingly failing to materialize because of the same praise singers.
“Let him call for the national indaba. Don’t entertain the praise singers, don’t let them bring noise in governance. The only noise you are supposed to make in governance is your performance. When you build a road, you build a bridge…that is what will start speaking for you. Praise singers are useless at this point,” he said.
“Let the praise singers keep quiet and let the President work. The praise singers that President Hichilema ought to have is his service delivery to the people. If people are happy, the same ordinary citizens are the ones that will become praise singers.”
